Bestacork started in September 2012 at Diego PortalesUniversity (UDP), within the Product Design Workshop. Given the properties ofagglomerated cork, it has been chosen as a perfect material for children’sstools. In particular, agglomerated cork is flexible, antibacterial, waterproof, lightweight, non-toxic, non-slip and most importantly, it caneasily recover from large strains. Apart from the intrinsic properties ofagglomerated cork, the stool’s rounded design allows children to play with it,making it a versatile furniture piece. This project was awarded 1rst place inthe NEPA Business Plan Competition (USA) and has continued developing at UDP’sInnovation Lab (LINC.udp). Our main goal is to develop stools and innovativeproducts by recycling wine stoppers.
